Serbian border now open

Serbian and Hungarian nationals may cross their mutual border without restrictions from 10 a.m. Monday, without mandatory quarantine, Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó announced in Röszke yesterday.

He affirmed that this applies to all nine border crossing stations.

Effective protective measures have made it possible to return to normal daily life in Hungary and Serbia, he added.

The minister said Central Europe fought the epidemic well, thanks to strict and timely measures. These included the limitation of traffic through the borders, but the situation is a lot better now, so crossing is available again.

He stressed that this applies only to those crossing the borders legally.

He confirmed that the opening of the border means that Serbian nationals can enter Hungary without quarantine obligations and Hungarians coming back from Serbia can also return without obligations.
