Hungarian suicide on cruise ship

A Hungarian member of the ocean liner Carnival Breeze was found dead in his cabin, apparently a victim of suicide, the tabloid Blikk reported on Sunday, citing Cruise Law News.

The man, József Szaller, had been working on various ships for three years and was an assistant in organising excursions on the cruise ship.

The ocean liner suspended its activity two months ago because of the coronavirus pandemic, and an operation to transport the members of the crew home has begun.

The ship is on its way from the Bahamas to Southampton to repatriate European members of its 1,300-strong crew.

Crew members complained of depression, boredom, stress and insecurity, as they have been under quarantine for a long time and received little information from the vessel’s leadership regarding their future.
