Solar companies fined for bid-rigging in EU tender

The Competition Authority (GVH) has fined five solar panel installation companies a combined Ft 9 million for colluding in tenders financed by EU funds, GVH informed state news agency MTI.

The competition watchdog launched an investigation in 2023 into seven companies following a report by the Integrity Authority (IH).

The investigation found that five of the seven companies colluded in 27 tenders under a scheme of the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development to improve electricity supply to farms.

Bids totalled around Ft 80 million, but projects worth only Ft 7 million were ultimately implemented.
