SK On battery plant fined Ft 100mn
The government office in Fejér county has imposed a Ft 100 million fine on SK On Hungary’s battery plant in Iváncsa for breaches in its operation that led to groundwater contamination near the site, according to a Facebook post by state secretary for Culture Ervin Nagy.
The authority ordered the immediate suspension of pipelines linked directly to the contamination, as well as other infrastructure with the same technical design.
SK On was also fined Ft 100 million in August for breaches in job safety rules. The violations constituted a direct risk to workers’ health and physical safety.
The Tisza Party said industrial investments of this scale must not put the environment or residents at risk and called for stricter and more responsible oversight of environmental and employment-related standards.
