Six hospitalised by chlorine gas leak in Budapest

Six people were taken to hospital with symptoms of chlorine gas poisoning following a leak at a chemical plant on Illatos út in Budapest’s Ninth District on September 15, the National Ambulance Service reported.
All six were transported to hospital in stable condition.
According to the Budapest Disaster Management Directorate, a damaged valve on a chlorine gas cylinder caused the leak.
The cylinder was subsequently placed in a containment vessel.
Twenty-five people were evacuated from the plant but were later allowed to return.
No disaster management intervention was ultimately required.
