Pianist Schiff returns from self-imposed exile
World renowned classical pianist András Schiff, a resident of London who has not visited his homeland since 2012 when he publicly condemned Viktor Orbán’s regime and announced that he would not set foot on Hungarian soil as long as Orbán was the prime minister, will perform in the main hall of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music on Thursday night for the first time in 16 years.
On the day before the concert Schiff received an honorary doctorate degree from Gábor Farkas, the rector of the University of Music.
Schiff is also boycotting Putin’s Russia and announced last year that he will not give any more concerts in Trump’s United States.
