Daily roaming data use nearly doubles in three yea

The average daily roaming mobile data of Hungarians rose from 0.6 gigabytes in 2022 to 1.1 gigabyte in 2025, media authority NMHH said in its fresh report.

The increase stemmed from higher mobile data usage rather than an increase in travel.

Roaming data traffic rose by 51% in 2023, 32% in 2024 and 16% in 2025, reaching a new annual high each year, despite the slowing growth rate.

Average daily roaming calls fell from 15 minutes in 2022 to 12 minutes in 2025. Total roaming voice traffic rose by less than 4% in 2023, was flat in 2024 and declined by 3% last year.

Roaming use remains strongly seasonal, with both data and voice traffic highest in the July-September period.

The average third-quarter data traffic over the 2022-25 period was 64% higher than in the first quarter, and the gap difference for voice calls was 14%.
