Govt provides Ft 5bn lifeline to regional airports
The government will provide Ft 5.5 billion to stabilise the operations of Debrecen, Sármellék and Pécs-Pogány airports, preventing the insolvency of their operators and the loss of about 250 jobs, Transport and Investment Minister Dávid Vitézy announced.
The funds will go to the airport operators and the National Regional Airport Operating Holding, which owns Debrecen and Sármellék airports.
Without the support, the companies would have faced bankruptcy this year, potentially forcing the immediate closure of the airports, Vitézy added.
