Hungarian visits to Croatia at new high

Croatia welcomed a record number of Hungarian visitors in the first half, with arrivals rising 4.5% year-on-year to nearly 190,000 and overnight stays up 6.5% to 687,000, according to the Croatian National Tourist Board.

Hotels and campsites recorded the strongest gains, with overnight stays increasing by 11% and 9% respectively, reflecting rising demand for longer holidays and higher-quality accommodation.

The most popular travel destinations for Hungarian tourists were Kvarner, Istria and Zadar county.

Arrivals and overnight stays to the Dubrovnik region jumped 35% year-on-year, helped by the direct air link between Budapest and Dubrovnik by Wizz Air and Ryanair, which operate a combined six flights per week.

Rovinj and Porec were also popular destinations.
