New tram line from Gellért tér planned
Transport and Investment Minister Dávid Vitézy announced on Friday that he had signed a funding agreement which practically lays the foundation for a new tram line to be built between Szent Gellért tér and Budafoki út.
Vitézy said the second phase of the Buda intertwining tram network can begin, adding that the work will have to be completed by 2029.
He said the costs of the project will be covered from EU funds.
The project has been underway for several years and, is almost fully prepared so in practice only the construction is left, and he was able to sign the EU funding agreement worth Ft 32.2 billion quickly, said Vitézy.
