Two postal workers die on duty during heatwave

Two postal workers died while on duty during last week’s heatwave, when temperatures exceeded 40°C, according to Blikk.
Magyar Posta confirmed the deaths and said it is providing support to the victims’ families and colleagues.
Prime Minister Péter Magyar announced that an investigation had been launched.
He said there is currently no evidence of a direct link between the extreme heat and the deaths, but a final conclusion will be reached once the investigation is completed.
The Postal Workers’ Union said the employer introduced several measures, including chilled drinking water, split shifts and a protocol requiring carriers to deliver only urgent mail, and return to post offices by 11 a.m.
A postal worker told Blikk that residents can help by offering postal workers water or inviting them inside briefly to cool down during periods of extreme heat.
