The new tool allows users to estimate both the retirement savings required to achieve a targeted pension supplement and the expected monthly pension income generated by a chosen level of contributions. Calculations can also be tailored to specific pension fund providers. The estimates are based on the current fee structures of pension funds and the long-term net returns of their investment portfolios. According to the MNB, the initiative is intended to improve financial literacy, while greater transparency around pension fund performance and costs could also strengthen competition within the sector.
