LGBTQ TV channel approved
The Media and Infocommunications Authority (NMHH) has registered a new linear television channel, Szivárvány (Rainbow) TV, marking the launch of Hungary’s first LGBTQ-focused broadcast channel.
The service will be operated by New Digital Media, with CEO Tamás Pataki describing the approval as a milestone for media pluralism and equal representation.
He added that the channel would give particular emphasis to compliance with child protection requirements.
Szivárvány TV is set to launch initially on the cable networks of EuroCable Magyarország, as well as via the MMDS microwave distribution system operated by AM Mikro.
