Budapest overnight public transport expands

Night public transport in Budapest and its surroundings will be reorganised from July 1, with more frequent services, improved co-ordination and stronger links between the city centre, outer districts and nearby settlements, Transport and Investment Minister Dávid Vitézy said on Monday.

The reform follows last year’s extension of metro operating hours and represents the next phase of a broader overhaul of the city’s night-time mobility system, focusing this time on the bus network.

The changes are intended to improve access to Budapest’s peripheral districts during the night and to better align surface services with the metro timetable.
