Sziget fest to honour Bródy

After a long period of uncertainty, this year’s Sziget Festival is set to take place on August 11-15, organisers confirmed at a Thursday press conference.

It was previously announced that Mor¬cheeba and Faithless will perform on Day Zero, followed by a massive afterparty reminiscent of dance music festivals.

In addition, a “Day Minus One” on August 9 will be dedicated to the works of singer and songwriter János Bródy in his last show before he retires from public performance.

The concert could last for six hours, as almost 40 artists will sing Bródy compositions in an event to later be broadcast by RTL as a one-hour programme.

Bródy himself will perform, joined by a long list of guests, including Zsusza Koncz, actress Judit Halász, musician László Tolcsvay and, most notably, Levente Szörényi, his bandmate from the Classic Rock group Illés.

The main acts at this year’s Sziget, as previously announced, will be Skepta, Skrillex, Bring Me The Horizon, Richie Hawtin, Zara Larsson, Wolf Alice and Florence + The Machine.
