Magyar: billionaires are fleeing with assets

Prime minister-elect Péter Magyar released a video message on Saturday, claiming that preparations are underway among “oligarch networks” to move assets abroad and leave the country.

While the Tisza Party is preparing to form a government, criminal networks are attempting to transfer large sums of money to countries including the United Arab Emirates, Uruguay, and the US.

Magyar added that Hungary’s tax authority has suspended several high-value transactions linked to circles around Antal Rogán on suspicion of money laundering.

He urged the tax authority (NAV), the chief prosecutor, and police leadership to immediately freeze what he described as “stolen funds” and prevent suspects from leaving the country before a new government is formed.

Magyar further claimed that several influential business families have already relocated assets and are preparing to leave Hungary, including taking children out of school and arranging security abroad.

He specifically mentioned reports involving Lőrinc Mészáros’s family.

Magyar alleged that certain media and communications assets, including TV2 and PR firm Lounge Event, were being sold at below market value, and warned investors against acquiring them.

Lounge Group rejected the claims, stating that Lounge Event is not for sale and no such transaction is taking place, calling the reports false.
