Contactless cards can buy BKV tickets

Passengers can now purchase tickets on all metro lines in Budapest using contactless bank cards, following the full rollout of the Pay&GO system at station entrances, mayor Gergely Karácsony said on Wednesday.
The upgrade is aimed primarily at occasional users and tourists, offering a quicker, cash-free way to access public transport.
The system had previously been tested on the underground and the 100E airport bus and selected lines, and has now been extended to the entire metro network.
City authorities plan to expand contactless ticketing to all public transport vehicles by 2028.
According to plans electronic tickets can be bought on all Budapest public transport vehicles from 2028.
