The announcement comes weeks after a government decree granted Ft 2 billion to the municipality to repay an Ft 1.8 billion loan, according to regional news outlet Nyugat. The hotel relies on the adjacent thermal spa, operated by the local government, which received Ft 1 billion in EU funds for upgrades. The Gotthard Therme Hotel opened in 2009, two years after the spa, and has since changed operators several times.
