Teacher suspended after axe attack on activists

A teacher in Debrecen has been suspended after threatening Tisza Party activists with an axe while they collected signatures in a local apartment block, RTL reports.

Party leader Péter Magyar shared a video showing activists fleeing down a stairwell as the man chased them.

The attacker, who works at a Baptist vocational school, was arrested and is now facing criminal proceedings.

The school immediately ordered an extraordinary investigation and confirmed that the teacher will not be allowed to work until both the inquiry and legal process are concluded. The principal emphasised that the school rejects all forms of aggression.

Debrecen mayor László Papp, a Fidesz member, also condemned the attack in a statement on social media, stating that “all forms of violence, whether verbal or physical, are reprehensible” and have no place in public or private life.
