IKEA Hungary posts record sales

IKEA Hungary yesterday announced record results for its fiscal year ending in August, with retail sales rising by 4.4% to Ft 144.3 billion.
In the year to August 31, the retailer’s three Hungarian stores attracted more than 8.2 million visitors.
Online shopping continued to gain ground, accounting for 25.4% of purchases.
IKEA Food served 3.9 million customers, contributing 7.4% of total sales.
The company attributed part of its performance to sustained price cuts.
Over the past two years, prices were reduced by an average of 17.5% on more than 2,200 products. This year alone, a further 150 items saw average price reductions of 23%, reinforcing IKEA’s strategy of competing on affordability amid still-cautious consumer demand.
