Motorists at fault for collisions with trains
Due to careless driving and violation of traffic regulations, 57 accidents occurred at railway crossings in 2025, the MÁV group told MTI on Sunday morning.
A total of 19 accidents resulted in deaths, and four resulted in serious injuries. Twelve accidents resulted in minor injuries and 27 in material damage.
According to the state-owned railway company, there has been no fatal accident at a level crossing on the MÁV network due to a MÁV error in the past 17 years.
Four people lost their lives near Sátoraljaújhely when a passenger car collided with a train at a well-functioning traffic light on January 1 of this year.
