MOL to close plastic recycling plant

MOL will shut down ReMat’s plastic waste recycling facility in Tiszaújváros by the end of December, citing sustained losses, despite efficiency measures.
The company told website Mfor that profitable operation is unrealistic under current market conditions.
MOL acquired ReMat, Hungary’s leading plastic-recycling firm, in 2022.
The company with 200 employees processes up to 25,000 tons of plastic annually, and maintains production sites in Tiszaújváros and Rakamaz, along with a logistics centre in Bratislava.
ReMat reported a Ft 1.3 billion loss from revenue of Ft 4.1 billion in 2023, followed by a Ft 556 million loss from revenue of Ft 3.7 billion last year.
