OTP amongst top 20 European banks, says deputy-CEO

OTP has become one of Europe’s 20 largest banks by market capitalisation, after tripling its total assets and quadrupling its loan portfolio over the past decade, Portfolio observes in a video report with deputy CEO László Bencsik.

In the interview recorded during the Budapest Economic Forum hosted by the financial website earlier this month, Bencsik said 70% of growth was organic, with the remainder coming from 14 acquisitions.

OTP ranks among Europe’s top banks, placing second this year in Standard & Poor’s comparison of the 50 largest lenders.

Bencsik emphasized OTP’s strong profitability, prudent risk management, and diversified presence in 11 countries, with market leadership in five.

He added that the bank’s solid capital position and strong stress test results confirm its reputation as one of Europe’s most resilient financial institutions.

OTP is set to release its latest earnings report on November 7 before the markets open.
