Revolut licenced to relaunch crypto services here

Revolut has obtained a Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) licence from the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission, paving the way for the resumption of its cryptocurrency services in Hungary, Revb reported.

The licence, granted under the EU’s new MiCA framework, allows the company to operate its crypto business across all 30 EEA countries.

With the new authorisation, Revolut plans to launch its expanded “Crypto 2.0” platform, offering access to more than 280 tokens.

Demand in Hungary could be significant: according to a summer survey of 600 users by Revb, hundreds of millions – or even billions – of forints worth of crypto assets were frozen in Hungarian Revolut accounts earlier this year.

It remains unclear when the service will resume domestically following the licence approval.
