Former Interior Ministry HQ sold at auction

State asset manager MNV has sold the former HQ of the Interior Ministry in central Budapest for Ft 51 billion, according to the website of MNV, Portfolio writes.
Only one bidder submitted the Ft 12.7 billion deposit required to participate in the auction, the financial website adds.
The Art Nouveau building, located in the Fifth District and facing the Chain Bridge, has a total floor area of 41,000m², making it one of the largest and contiguous properties of central Budapest and hence one of the most valuable.
The premises are scheduled to be vacated by the end of the year, with the final transfer of ownership planned for January 15, 2026, the MNV website shows.
The state asset manager has been actively seeking to sell hundreds of state-owned properties recently, including several at prime sites valued at billions of forints.
