Absence of cleaning staff disrupts SK On factory

Cleaning services at SK On’s EV battery factory in Komárom stopped on September 12, when cleaners failed to report for work and did not return in the following days, employees told Telex.
Toilets soon became unusable, leading some workers to consider staying away from the plant, though managers reportedly denied requests for leave.
Accounts differ on the cause. Some sources claim cleaners refused to continue working because their August wages had not been paid; others suggest they were dismissed with immediate effect.
An internal memo seen by Telex said SK On took “immediate steps” to resolve the disruption, contacting multiple service providers.
By September 16, the company had reached an agreement with a new subcontractor, which was due to begin work the next day.
SK’s Hungarian EV battery factories generated massive losses last year and the company reported at the end of August that hundreds of foreign guest workers would be dismissed soon from the plant in Iváncsa, HVG reports.
