Richest 10,000 households’ net worth Ft 4b each

The wealthiest 10,000 Hungarian households are estimated to have average assets of Ft 4 billion, according to research by Apelso Wealth Management presented on Wednesday.
The organisation acknowledged that much of this wealth remains outside official statistics and only a small fraction is managed by private banks.
In this asset class, typically less than Ft 1 billion is in real estate, around Ft 660 million is held in domestic private banking portfolios, and nearly Ft 500 million is abroad, primarily in financial assets, with some foreign property acquisitions, particularly in the Middle East.
Company ownership accounts for half of total wealth.
“Almost 1,800 people provide asset management services in Hungary, but only a tenth are professional providers”, according to István Illés, Apelso’s founding partner.
The remainder – lawyers, accountants, and financial advisors – serve clients on an ad hoc basis, typically supporting a single family or individual.
