Wizz Air to exit Vienna by next March
Low-cost carrier Wizz Air has announced the complete closure of its Vienna base by March 15, 2026, following a strategic review of its operations, Airportal reports.
As an initial step, two aircraft will be redeployed to other bases from the start of the winter schedule on 26 October, and services to Bilbao and London Gatwick will be discontinued.
The remaining three aircraft will leave Vienna Schwechat Airport by March, ending all Wizz Air routes from that base.
The airline is assisting affected passengers, offering rebooking or refunds for cancelled flights.
Staff at the Vienna base have been given the option to relocate within Wizz Air’s broader network.
