Siófok is top summer destination

Siófok retained its top spot as the most popular domestic holiday destination this summer, followed by Budapest and Eger, according to booking data from Szallas.hu.

One-third of all reservations were made for the Lake Balaton region, followed by Northern Hungary (16%) and the Southern Great Plain (11%).

Short trips dominated the season, as one-night stays accounted for 28% of bookings, two-night stays for 30%, and three-night stays for 20%.

One-third of guests chose apartments, followed by hotels (27%) and guesthouses (22%).

Eight out of ten travellers spent less than Ft 170,000 on their holiday through the booking site, with 47% of all reservations costing under Ft 70,000.

Bookings in the Ft 170,000-270,000 price range accounted for 12% of the total, while those in the Ft 270,000-370,000 range made up just 4%.

September pre-bookings show Budapest as the most popular domestic tourism destination, ahead of Eger, Siófok, Gyula, and Szeged, with hotels gaining in popularity over apartments and couples making up a larger percentage of travellers.
