Aldi prepares new approaches

Aldi Hungary has made changes to store operations, including relocating refundable bottle collecting machines outside sales areas at its own expense to improve cleanliness and reduce queues, CEO Bernhard Haider told Világgazdaság in an interview.
He remarked that lower handling fees set by monopoly waste concession holder MOHU could lead to annual losses of nearly Ft 1 billion, adding to the burden of the special retail tax.
Aldi stores will open an hour earlier on Sundays, operating from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. nationwide from mid-September, Haider announced.
Store layouts are also being revamped: fresh produce, meat and staple foods will be placed near entrances, while the number of refrigerators and freezers will be expanded.
In contrast, space devoted to non-food seasonal goods, such as clothing and small appliances, will be reduced.
