EC clears state aid for Sunwoda battery plant
The European Commission has approved €264 million Hungarian state support for the €1.4 billion EV battery factory that China’s Sunwoda is building in Nyíregyháza.
The incentive package, consisting of a cash grant and tax breaks, was deemed compatible with EU state-aid rules.
The Commission accepted the government’s argument that the project will bolster regional growth, creating more than 2,500 direct jobs and a further 470 in related industries.
The plant will produce lithium-ion cells for electric vehicles.
