Court rejects SungEel’s expansion
The expansion permit for SungEel’s EV battery recycling facility in Bátonyterenye, Nógrád county has been annulled following a legal challenge by the town council, investigative news website Átlátszó reports.
The South Korean company obtained an environmental authorisation in April 2024, but the town appealed.
This summer the same environmental authority imposed an increased fine on SungEel for repeated waste management breaches – a move the company claims is politically motivated.
