Grand Prix drives weekend tourist boom
The Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix delivered a significant boost to Budapest’s tourism sector, according to Visit Hungary.
Over the race weekend, 96,000 guests stayed in the capital’s hotels, with occupancy rates topping 86%.
During August 1-3, tourists booked 180,000 guest nights – 91% of them by foreign visitors. The largest contingents came from the UK, Poland, Germany, the US and Romania.
International arrivals were up 20% compared with last year’s race weekend.
