Sziget ticket sales rebound as festival begins

Sziget Festival ticket sales have already exceeded last year’s total, suggesting a reversal of the post-2022 downturn, Tamás Kádár, the event’s chief organiser said on Tuesday.

Based on advance purchases, Wednesday’s lineup featuring Charli XCX, Thursday’s performance by Shawn Mendes, and Sunday’s headliner Post Malone are likely to sell out.

This year’s festival is set to draw a markedly larger domestic audience, with increases in both weekly pass holders and day ticket buyers.

Among foreign visitors, the Netherlands continues to dominate, while attendance from the UK has declined.

Meanwhile, neighbouring countries Austria, Slovakia, Romania, the Czech Republic and Poland, have significantly caught up in numbers.

Despite official programmes beginning only on Wednesday, several thousand attendees had already arrived by Monday evening as the 31st edition of the festival began setting up.

Kádár also downplayed concerns over any reputational fallout from the government’s three-year ban on Belfast group Kneecap, who had initially been slated to perform.
