MVM paid influencers millions from public funds
State-owned energy company MVM has disclosed, in response to a public information request by news website 24, that it employed 14 influencers over the past two years, spending millions of forints in public funds.
While MVM declined to release contract details, citing national security concerns and a lack of familiarity with the specifics, the energy company confirmed the names and payments.
The recipients created promotional content, including "mini-documentaries" filmed in locations such as the Maldives, Singapore, and Los Angeles in 2023 and 2024.
The production work was handled by Lounge Event, a communications firm closely tied to the Orbán government’s business network, which received a total of Ft 166 million from MVM over the two-year period.
