Keleti station to close for a month

Budapest’s Keleti train station will close for four weeks from August 25, as part of an ongoing renovation, the MÁV group announced on Monday.
During the closure, no trains will depart from or arrive at the station, with significant disruptions expected on key lines.
Trains on the Győr main line will be rerouted to Budapest-Kelenföld, while InterCity trains from Pécs and Kaposvár will also arrive at Kelenföld.
InterCity services between Budapest and Miskolc, as well as the Tisza-Lake express, will use Nyugati station as their terminus.
The MÁV group said most of the project affects technical space and a minor part the passenger traffic area.
Work will be ongoing around the clock until September 20, as tracks, shunts and more than 2,000 wooden sleepers will be replaced.
In addition, 16km of the overhead cable network will be repaired.
