Revolut seeks EU crypto licence MiCA

Revolut Digital Assets Europe, the cryptocurrency arm of fintech firm Revolut operating within the European Economic Area, is pushing ahead with efforts to obtain a Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) licence, Revolut told Portfolio.

The Cyprus-registered entity, authorised by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission since 2022, is reportedly making substantial progress in securing the EU-wide authorisation.

Observers believe, Portfolio adds, that once the MiCA authorisation is secured in Cyprus, Revolut is likely to receive a green light from Hungarian regulators as well, removing a key obstacle to its crypto operations in this country.
