Forint strengthens against euro

While the forint exchange rate against the euro hovered around 401 during the night, the Hungarian currency managed to break through the 400 threshold to trade at 399.8 on Thursday morning.

The forint also strengthened to 341, a two-year high, against an ailing dollar. This compares to levels above 400 against the greenback just six months ago.

The reasons cited include the bearish international sentiment against the US currency and the high Hungarian base rate supporting the forint.
