Sulyok sends bill back to Parliament

President Tamás Sulyok did not sign into law on Friday a regulation which would have elevated decrees on the state of emergency to the level of law, this emerged from a letter that Sulyok sent to Speaker László Kövér as he sent the bill back to Parliament for reconsideration.
Deputy prime minister Zsolt Semjén and Justice Minister Bence Tuzson earlier submitted a proposal to this effect that was passed by Parliament on May 20.
The government declared a state of emergency from November, 2022 by alluding to the Russian-Ukrainian war, for the entire country, and then has extended it ever since.
In the past two and half years decrees were issued regarding a number of issues in which the cabinet earlier governed with acts of Parliament.
This would have been terminated by the proposal submitted by Tuzson and Semjén by elevating the decrees on the state of emergency to the level of law. Sulyok found this problematic.
