Public transit will run later

Suburban trains and Volánbusz services serving Budapest and surrounding areas will run later from June 1 as they adjust to the extended timetables of metro lines, Transport Minister János Lázár announced at Tuesday’s Transport Info press conference.
Alexandra Szentkirályi, leader of the Fidesz group on city council, said that she had asked MÁV-Volán and Lázár to extend the services of Volánbusz and suburban trains until 1 a.m.
Dávid Vitézy, chairman of the city council’s transport committee, announced in the middle of May that metro trains will run later into the night from June 1.
Vitézy said the last M2, M3 and M4 metro carriages will leave the downtown area at around midnight, half an hour later than hitherto.
The trains will run for an additional 90 minutes on Friday and Saturday nights, with a frequency of every ten minutes until 1 a.m.
Another new feature is that related mass transit services will adjust to the new schedule, and will also run half an hour later every day of the week, Vitézy added.
