NAV shuts down Ft 1bn invoice factory
A total of 26 people were questioned as suspects, and three people have been arrested on suspicion of operating a company network and invoice factory.
The network producing fictitious invoices cheated the state coffers of Ft 1 billion.
The organisation operated by issuing false invoices related to profit-making companies that actually performed activities – in particular, selling cleaning products and vehicle parts, as well as waste management – with which they could unlawfully reduce the value added tax they were liable for.
Tax office agents simultaneously raided nearly 70 locations linked to the gang.
Customs agents impounded large quantities of electronic and printed evidence, detained 26 people and questioned them as suspects, and impounded nearly Ft 700 million worth of assets from the perpetrators.
The tax authority NAV is pursuing criminal proceedings because of budget fraud committed in a criminal organisation and other crimes.
