Elanders to shut down Hungarian plant

Elanders Hungary, the Hungarian subsidiary of Swedish printing group Elanders, will cease operations at the end of June after more than two decades of operation in Zalalövő, Zala county, Mfor reports citing local website Zaol.
Employees have already been informed of the closure.
The decision affects 170-180 workers, including local management. The workforce stood at 230 at the end of 2023, according to business data provider Opten.
Zalalövő mayor Antal Gyarmati described the closure as a major blow to the local economy, given Elanders’s long-standing presence and recent investments.
The company had recently expanded its facilities and installed solar panels, leading many to believe the owners were planning for long-term operations.
