Tisza volunteers attacked again

Tisza volunteers working for the party’s national consultation campaign were attacked in Tök by a “Fidesz sympathiser”, according to Tisza leader Péter Magyar.
He claimed the attacker yelled anti-semitic profanities and kicked over a voting booth, scattering glasses and phones.
Magyar blamed Viktor Orbán’s rhetoric for inciting violence.
Earlier in the week, another Tisza volunteer was assaulted in Eger, leading to a fast-track trial.
The assailant received a three-year prison sentence, a four-year ban from public office, and a suspended sentence of one year and eight months.
The prosecutor said that, as the verdict was not final, the court ordered the arrest of the offender. The man has appealed.
Magyar also accused Fidesz of obstructing Tisza’s national consultation campaign in the electoral district of Tamás Menczer, Fidesz communications director. Magyar alleged that police were called to stop Tisza party volunteers campaigning in Zsámbék.
He urged Orbán to “stop the violence” and warned that disrupting legal events carries a penalty of up to three years in prison.
Tisza’s referendum initiative, launched on Monday, runs until April 11.
