Wizz Air targets 40% share of Ukrainian air traffi

Wizz Air is targeting a 40% market share in Ukraine after the war-torn country reopens its air space, CEO József Váradi told Bloomberg news on Wednesday.
"Wizz Air will receive 50 new Airbus aircraft in the next 12 months, and so will have ample capacity to exploit market opportunities, such as in Ukraine," he said.
Wizz Air plans to base 40 new aircraft in Ukraine over three years and introduce 150 routes, after which annual capacity would increase to 15 million seats, equal to its markets in Poland and Romania.
In 2019, the last normal year before the Covid pandemic, the airline had a 13% share of the Ukrainian market, against Ryanair with 7%. Local airline Ukraine International led with nearly 40%.
