Waberer’s to enter passenger transport market

Waberer’s Group is entering the passenger transport market by acquiring a 51% stake in Pannon-Busz-Rent, with the remaining 49% staying with its founder, Zoltán Kölbl, for two years.

The deal is set to close in the first half of 2025, pending regulatory approval.

Waberer’s, majority-owned by István Tiborcz, sees the acquisition as part of its growth and diversification strategy, leveraging synergies between freight and passenger fleet operations, said chairman and CEO Zsolt Barna.

Pannon-Busz-Rent operates a fleet of 170 vehicles, primarily buses, and offers employee transport for various companies, replacement bus services for rail transport, and charter bus services.

The company closed 2023 with Ft 4.4 billion in revenue and Ft 500 million in profit.

Waberer’s, a leading logistics provider in Europe, operates 2,800 trucks and 250,000m2 of warehouse space.

In the first nine months of 2023, it reported €581.5 million in revenue, up 10% year-on-year. Ebit declined from €33 million to €29.3 million in the same period.
