Households’ solvency weaker

Household solvency in Hungary continued to deteriorate in the last quarter of 2024, as the Intrum Solvency index fell by 18% from the previous quarter, the debt collector said on Wednesday.

Thus, the decline that began last August continued.

However, there is still a significant improvement since 2023.

Household solvency may improve slightly in 2025, but the structural problems of the economy continue to hinder a rapid recovery, Intrum commented.

The agency added that the expected 4% growth in real income this year and pre-election spending next year may provide some recovery, but long-term stability is yet to come.
