Magyar Telekom and Yettel adjust fees to inflation
Magyar Telekom and Yettel Hungary will each adjust their monthly service fees by 3.7%, matching the average annual inflation rate for 2024, as per the regulations.
The new rates will apply from April this year.
The two telecom service providers both raised fees by 14.5% in 2023, in accord with the average inflation rate in 2022. A year later, Magyar Telekom consumers faced a 15% hike, which was 2.7 percentage points below the 2023 inflation, while Yettel applied a 15.3% increase.
Vodafone, renamed ONE from January 1, rolled out its new fees last month, announcing a 3.5% hike effective from May 1. The company uses its fiscal year for calculating inflation and determining new rates.
According to a compilation by business website Hwsw, over the last three years Vodafone has implemented a cumulative fee increase of 28.9%, while Magyar Telekom and Yettel have raised rates by 33.2% and 33.5%, respectively.
