Croatia attracts record number of Hungarians again



For the third consecutive year, the number of Hungarians vacationing in Croatia reached a record high in 2024, as 790,000 Hungarian tourists spent 3.4 million guest nights in the neighbouring country, according to Ivana Herceg, head of the Croatian Tourist Board in Budapest.

Hungarian visitors stayed an average of five days in Croatia, with 26% traveling on organised tours.

Private home accommodations remained the most popular choice, preferred by 59% of travellers, followed by hotels at 27%, camp¬sites at 10%, and yacht tourism at 2%.

As in previous years, the Kvarner Gulf was the most visited region, accounting for 1.1 million guest nights spent by Hungarians, followed by the Istrian peninsula with 789,000, and Split and Zadar counties, each with 641,000.

Even in December, 7,000 Hungarian tourists visited Croatia, spending 16,000 nights in total.

The most popular destinations during this period were Opatija, Zagreb, Zadar, Rovinj, and Split.
