Fireworks banned from downtown
In order to prevent the risk of injury and possible material damage from fireworks, as well as to reduce noise and smoke pollution, the use of pyrotechnic devices in certain parts of the Budapest city centre is restricted leading up to New Year’s Eve.
From 6 p.m. on December 28, to 6 a.m. on January 1, the use of such devices will be prohibited in an area roughly bounded by Szt. István Basilica, Ferenciek tere and the Danube.
In Hungary, private individuals are still prohibited from owning or using firecrackers.
