Snow causes railway chaos
Tensions flared online as Hungary’s rail system crumbled under winter conditions on Friday, as online ticketing systems and information desks were overwhelmed as delays and mishaps accumulated.
Train traffic at Kelenföld station in Buda collapsed due to a broken overhead line, leaving passengers stuck on snowy tracks.
Crowds grew as trains were cancelled or delayed without updates on display boards.
On the Pest side, Keleti station faced similar chaos.
Former transport secretary Dávid Vitézy declared that rail transport had failed and someone must accept responsibility.
